Frequently asked questions
Does this sync between door staff or devices?
Yes, if you start a multi-door event. Open "Multi-door event" under the counter on one phone, name its door and tap Start; then on each other door’s phone, scan the QR code or type the door code, and name that door. Every door keeps counting on its own phone and sees the venue-wide numbers (inside now, entries and exits), and the capacity warning follows the whole venue. A manager link shows every door, when each was last heard from, the categories and the timeline. A door that loses the connection keeps counting and catches up when it’s back. To do this, a live room on our server holds each door’s name and its counts until the event ends, or a day after the last update (see the privacy notice). Without an event, nothing leaves your device. Two people at the same door should still share one phone.
I misclicked and the count is wrong — how do I fix it?
Tap Undo to take back the last tap, and again for the one before it — every tap is logged, so you can step back as far as you need. To jump straight to a known figure, tap the number and type it; in "In and out" mode, type the Total entries or Exits figure under the buttons instead — inside now follows from those two. Either way the new number saves immediately.
Will I lose the count if I close the tab or my phone locks?
No — the count is saved to your browser’s local storage after every tap, so it’s still there when you reopen this page on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data, using a private/incognito window, or switching devices will reset it.
How do I start a fresh count for a new event?
Tap "Reset to 0" and confirm. That also clears the tap log and the timeline, and Undo can’t bring them back — so copy the summary or download the log first.
Can it count people leaving as well as entering?
Yes — switch the counting mode to "In and out". You get two big buttons: IN when someone enters and OUT when someone leaves. The display shows how many people are inside now, with the total entries and exits underneath, so you keep the "how many came through the door" figure as well as the live occupancy. Don’t use −1 for people leaving in one-way mode: that takes them off the entries total, and the night’s attendance figure comes out too low.
Can it warn me when I’m approaching venue capacity?
Yes — enter your venue’s capacity limit in the "Capacity limit" field and the count turns amber once you’re within 10% of it, and red once you’ve hit or passed it, along with a note showing how many spaces are left (or how far over). In "In and out" mode the warning follows the number inside now, so it eases off again as people leave.
Does my phone screen stay on while I’m counting?
This page asks the browser to keep the screen awake while it’s open, so it shouldn’t lock mid-shift. Support varies by browser — if your screen still locks, that’s the browser declining the request, not a bug in the counter.
How do I record the final number at the end of the night?
Tap "Copy end-of-night summary" to copy a short text summary — start time, end time, final count (in "In and out" mode, total entries, exits and how many were still inside), and capacity if you set one — to your clipboard, ready to paste into a message, email, or note. In "In and out" mode it also gives the peak: the most people inside at once, and when. If your browser blocks clipboard access, the same text appears in a box you can select and copy by hand. For the full record, "Download log (CSV)" saves every tap with its time, ready for a spreadsheet.
Can I see when it was busiest?
Yes — open "Timeline" under the counter. It charts how many were inside through the night (or, one-way, the running total), marks the peak, and shows entries per 15 minutes, so you can answer "how many arrived between 22:00 and 23:00?" at a glance. Hover or drag across a chart for the exact figure at any moment. The timeline is drawn from the timestamped log on this device; nothing is sent anywhere.
